Anti-inflammatory And Analgesic Activity Of Whole Plant Of Brassica Oleracea Linn Var. Capitata F. Rubra (red Cabbage) In Rats
The present study was carried out to evaluate the anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity of whole plant of Brassica oleracea Linn var. capitata f. rubra (Red Cabbage) in rats. Anti-inflammatory activity of Carrageenan induced hind paw edema method; the oral administration of Brassica oleracea in dose (225 mg/kg) produced significant reduction (p<0.001) in paw volume in comparison to control. The maximum anti-inflammatory action was observed in 2.5h in the dose of test drug. The results were compared to Standard drug Diclofenac. Analgesic activity by oral administration of Brassica oleracea in dose (225 mg/kg) significantly increased the hot plate reaction time of animals up to 150min at a dose of 225mg/kg. The results were compared to Standard drug Naproxen.
